About Franziska

I began learning foreign languages when at Kindergarten. As a Swiss German I had to master High German in both it's written and spoken form. This was followed by studying Latin, followed by French and English at secondary school. Italian was my "holiday" language and I chose it in addition as a voluntary subject and graduated in all Languages to the equivalent of A-Level.

Like most Swiss, you are used to using several languages on a daily basis. Switzerland having 4 different official languages, most products are labelled in the 3 main languages: Deutsch, Franzoesisch und Italienisch!

Learning the languages at the college helped to understand the syntax, structure and the grammar of a language. To speak the languages it is important to know the exact intonation as it could change the whole meaning if you pronounce a word differently.

At first I found it hard to learn all these words and declinations but in learning a language I also began understand the culture of the people who speak these languages! And this was of great interest to me. That's one of the reason I moved from Switzerland to England.

"Franziska Mayall has taught our 5 year old daughter German for several months during 2010 and 2011. We were very satisfied with Franziska's teaching, our daughter enjoyed the lessons and she made good progress. I would recommend Franziska for any German teaching position for little children." - Jurgen, South Kensington
